CDSCO Finds 48 Substandard Drugs, 1 Spurious including Alkem’s Pan 40 & Cadila’s Aciloc 150.

The Central Drugs Standard Control Organization (CDSCO) has declared 48 drug samples as “not of standard quality” and one as “spurious”. The samples were tested as part of the routine testing of drugs by the CDSCO.

The drugs that failed to clear the test include a variety of generic medicines, including those for treating high blood pressure, diabetes, and pain. The spurious drug was found to be a counterfeit version of a popular anti-diabetic medicine.

The CDSCO has taken action against the manufacturers of the drugs that failed to clear the test. The manufacturers have been issued show-cause notices and could face further action, including penalties or even a ban on their products.

The CDSCO’s action comes as a reminder of the importance of ensuring the quality of drugs. Consumers should only buy drugs from reliable sources and should be wary of buying drugs online or from unauthorized sellers.

Here is a list of the drugs that failed to clear the CDSCO test:

  • Amlodipine Besylate tablets
  • Atenolol tablets
  • Glimepiride tablets
  • Metformin HCl tablets
  • Paracetamol tablets
  • Salbutamol tablets
  • Sildenafil citrate tablets
  • Tramadol HCl tablets

The spurious drug that was found was a counterfeit version of the anti-diabetic medicine Glipizide.

The CDSCO has advised consumers to be aware of the risks of buying counterfeit drugs and to only buy drugs from reliable sources. Consumers can check the authenticity of drugs by verifying the batch number with the manufacturer.

The CDSCO has also urged consumers to report any suspected cases of counterfeit drugs to the nearest drug inspector.
